So Sunday, we need to run to town - a few errands - Home Depot, Target and HEB. Everytime we get in the hot car, I say, this car stinks - rotten meat and cat wee - how nice. Roy can't smell, so he just shrugs his shoulders. Sy wants to know when we will be getting candy - skittles, please, mama?
We get our errands done - we bought laundry soap at Target along with other items. Roy loads them in the trunk. We finish with some items from HEB. Home we go. We start unloading the car - Roy goes for the trunk while I fish out the child and the collection of toys that have made the journey with us. Roy announces that the laundry soap has leaked all over the right side/center of the trunk. You have got to be kidding - nope, he wasn't kidding.
So in 100+ temperatures with the sun baking us, we tear the trunk apart. Roy goes in to put the groceries away - no more rotten meat, please. Sy helps me and proceeds to get soaked and sudsy - he had fun. I took the pressure nozzle to the pieces of the trunk Roy pulled out and got all the soap out. Then I had to wash down the inside of the trunk.
Got all wet, soapy and sweaty but it all dried within 2 hours - thanks to the hot weather and 24% humidity that was Sunday. Roy helped me get it all put back together and I'm glad to say - the rotten meat smell is GONE! Yeah.
Quite a bit of work and I'm out a huge bottle of laundry soap, but I'm glad the rotten meat smell is no longer lingering.
We tried to figure out how to get the piece of the back seat out that still needs to be cleaned - but no luck. We are going to rent the shampooer this weekend or next... not sure yet, but I'm hoping that I can knock it out this weekend.
Home Depot is no longer carrying the light and electrical switch plate covers we have chosen for the house. Good news is they are still available. Made in good ol' Reading, PA. Small world. We have ordered the plates for the foyer so that project can get finished. Speaking of that project, the ceiling tiles are on their way, Lowe's called the other night to confirm they were on the truck. I hope we get a call tomorrow to come pick them up. I can't wait to have that project done.
Roy had Sy home on Friday. They made berry muffins - blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. I love to bake and Roy does not so I was surprised when he called asking for baking advice. Needless to say they are some of the best muffins I have ever had.
Wishing you a wonderful week - countdown to school has begun...
