53 days and counting

We hit 53 days of 100+ here in South Texas.  How exciting is that?  I hope it means we have a cold, wet winter, we need the rain and I know I will enjoy it being cold for a while.
Sy's swim lessons have ended.  I was feeling bad about not signing him up for the last summer session but then on our last day (last Saturday) they said they will be renovating the pool area so it's closed for a while.  Whew.  I don't have to feel guilty. Sy asked about swim lessons today, so hopefully he will be ready to go back in the October timeframe.
We were going to go to SeaWorld today. Didn't happen.  Sy's had some congestion and I wanted him to rest today so it doesn't become something worse.  He had a pretty good day.  We played trains and watch cartoons.  He went out and played on the fire truck for a while and we filled the bird feeders.
Roy bought a ton of carrots a few weeks ago so I'm on a carrot cooking craze.  I made two carrot casseroles.  Last week was on Grandma makes from Taste of Home and today was one I found on the internet.  They are both good - but I didn't steam the carrots long enough before creating the casseroles.  I think I need to just eat them raw.  Easier and better for me.
The shelves Roy made for Sy's room turned out great.  I put all of his "stuff" away and took some photos of his room as it is right now.
He likes that his toys are more organized and that he has more room to make a mess.  I like that it cleans up easier. It's all good.
My Honda has a cabin air filter.  It's behind the glove box and is recommended to be changed at least once a year, whether you need it or not.  The filter is supposed to keep the cabin air clean from what, I'm not sure...  Well, I won't tell you when the last time I had it changed was...  I'm glad to announce that I changed it today.  It was really easy.  You have to push in the sides of the glove box and it drops down.  The air filter slides out.  The auto parts place just down the road had it in stock and it was only $20.  Wow.  I like that. I may change it more often now so we are safer from whatever it protects us from.
I also ran into the little "Woolworth's" type store close by and picked up a new shower curtain.  I replaced the heavy duty one I bought from Wal-Mart years ago a few months ago with a "heavy duty" one from Target.  Well, it wasn't heavy duty at all and looked terrible.  This one seems to be heavier than the Target one so I'm hoping we have it for a long time.  I like when they can be washed and rehung and looks great.  Hopefully, I will get that.
Not much else is going on.  It's been quiet, just like it should be.
Happy Birthday to Grandma - Aug 24, Myrrh, and Melissa (both Aug 31).
