Sy is getting up every morning between 5 and 6 a.m. For a while there, he was having a hard time getting up at 6:45 to get to Nana's before work. Now he's waking me up - to hell with the alarm clock, my early bird is back. I like that he's chipper in the morning but man, I really am dreaming of the day he sleeps until 9 a.m. Although I may wake up with heart pounding, hands sweating worried something is wrong behind that door.
We have had a lot of rain in the last week, odd since we haven't had any for MONTHS! And he is convinced that we are going outside to play at 6 a.m. in the wet grass - which he kindly informs me once he's in the wet grass that he doesn't want his feet to get wet... uhmmm Please let's go in and watch Curious George and Dinosaur Train. I will make you toast with strawberry jelly with orange juice. Whether or not that works, of course, depends on the mood.
The good thing about early awakenings is that he is gosh darn ready for bed, with no fuss at 7 p.m. or earlier. If you can get him in the car (from Nana's house to our house works well most days) he will conk out before we get home. If you do it right, you can get him from the car to bed without waking him. It's fantastic. It means that I get a night to do housework sit on the couch and be lazy.
I do dream of sleeping in - I guess that will have to wait until he's a teen, until then, I'm delighted that I'm the first person he wants to see in the morning. There's nothing better than a "good morning" from my little ray of sunshine, long before the sun comes up.
