We survived! I'm so glad it's over. I was exhausted and my whole body hurt. But I was ready. Since I have been sick on and off since August, I wanted to give the house a deep cleaning and get rid of a lot of stuff we were storing. G&G took Sy for the week and I busted my bum each night after work.
Before the big day - 25 - I needed to get my house in order. Everyone was coming here on Christmas day and I wanted to be ready - but I had to go overboard to be ready.
All the baby and maternity stuff is officially gone. A friend who will have a baby boy this Friday (12/30) got all the clothes. Since Sy was also a December baby she should be good to go. The changing table went to a fireman whose wife is due in May and the pack n play and stroller went to a friend who has just found out she's pregnant. And what people weren't sure they wanted - toys and books - they went to Goodwill with the maternity clothes.
We also cleaned out the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Sy's room got a new shelving unit and storage bins to be prepared for the arrival of a small toy store at Christmas.
All good stuff - most of it not noticeable to those just walking in but I knew it got done and felt good to purge.
We also finished our gift and grocery shopping while the boy was visiting the G&G.
The day turned out great! Sy was excited with all his gifts. The food was great - way too much - which happens at every holiday - and the wine was fabulous.
G&G are celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary and Roy's birthday is in a few days.
I hope your December has been full of family, friends, love and laughter.
