The Coffee

With the start of my new job, I have decided that I like bringing my coffee. I can get a good cup in the cafe in the morning but it's too hot to drink while I eat my taco and then I typically spill some on the walk to my desk.

If I bring my coffee, it has time to cool off on the road and I can take a few sips prior to heading to the cafe to get my taco. That's the routine - park, walk to the cafe, get taco, eat, then walk to my office. Anyway, since I don't drink it all on the ride in, I have some to wash down that bacon and egg on corn.

Well, I have been having coffee issues because I was not able to get a cup that wasn't bitter. We have a very nice coffee pot (thank you G&G Sheetz) and I have a grinder. I looked up how to use the grinder and realized I've been grinding the beans incorrectly. And I also learned that I should be using 1 tablespoon per 6 ounces and not 2 teaspoons per 8 ounces.

The last straw was trying Dunkin Donuts for the last week. I cannot get it to taste like it does when you buy it from one of their locations. I know on the bag it says it is formulated and if you use 1 1/2 tablespoons per 6 ounces, it will be like the store.  It's close and I haven't given up just yet. I feel like this is something I have to figure out. Just not yet.... Because....

Roy got a cup of coffee at Central Market over the holidays. A dark roast. I don't typically drink dark roast and he likes his coffee black. I prefer a spot of cream in mine to soften it just a little. Well, this coffee smelled great and he said it was really good so I took a sip. It was fabulous - BLACK!

This past weekend, Sy and I stopped there to figure out what it was and to buy some. They don't sell the exact same blend but they have one that is very similar. I brought home two different blends to see which was the closest. It was a coffee kind of Sunday at our house.

They are both Lavazza coffees. We prefer the Cafe Espresso with the black label. It's really good. I tried it with cream and believe it or not, it's better black. So for now, we are hooked. I find myself craving it in the afternoon and even before bed. I haven't made any at night because I know I won't be able to sleep.

If you are looking for a coffee with lots of flavor and no bitterness, check it out. It's definitely worth it.
