We went to Sonic and the park today. We didn't mean to but Roy went to work (the Hallum tank - it's huge) and we needed things to do. We started with laundry but I also knew my car was in desparate need of a cleaning and Sy thought it would be fun to clean it in the front yard. So we did. We got as much of the trash out as we could - which wasn't bad, only 1/2 a plastic bag full - much better than expected. I then got the vaccum out and hooked it up, moved the car closer to the garage and we were in business. It took FOREVER to vacuum. It was bad. I'm not bragging, I"m in awe that a car with a 3-year old sitting in it can get that messy. Awe. Definitely awe.
Sy was very good while we did that. He stayed in the car and moved things around to places I was trying to work. He was such the helper. We got done with that and on to the fun stuff, let's wash it. He was so looking forward to turning on the hose and shooting it far. I forgot, while I was gathering the bucket, soap and sponges, that the wachamacallit that turns the hose on at the nozzle broke. Roy hasn't fixed it. He is turning it on and off with pliers. He goes to Home Depot 10 times a week and I'm not sure why the open/close thing is not already fixed... Anyway, I decided that we were not going to deal with that so I talked Sy into a drive through the loud car wash and I promised that we would get Dada to fix the hose so we can wash the car at home next weekend. Man, my car is going to be CLEAN! So the loud car wash plus a trip to Sonic (to use our $2.00 coupon) is a good plan.
We did the car wash first, it soaped the car twice and it got really dark. We had fun watching it go around and me trying to explain to Sy how it worked was very funny. Car wash, done.
On to Sonic. It was a beautiful day here and since I only had chores to do at home, why not enjoy the outdoors? We decided to sit outside. He informed me, he was hungry. Oh yeah, it is lunch time, isn't it. What do you want to eat? Chicken fingers and apples with chocolate milk. It took forever to show up - approximately three runs down the middle of the parking area (safe, I promise) and about 10 threatens to not push the red button and call the lady to place an order. (Don't worry by the time we left, they had our number, the last button pushed as we got into the car didn't even get an answer.)
The chicken shows up with tater tots. My kid is not a tater tot fan (but loves McD's french fries). Anyway, they bring the apples. As he starts to eat, this is the comment, "I love this chicken. It's soooo good. I wish I was a chicken finger so someone could eat me." Where does this stuff come from?
He was very impressed with the Ford F350 that showed up and had to pull in his mirrors to get in a spot to order. And that Ford Mustang on the other side, now that was fantastic. And we have to have one of those.
We ended our day at the park in Lytle. They have fixed up the play equipment and there were a lot of people there. We ran into some really nice boys at the bike/skateboard area and then a dad with his two girls. Lots of nice people and kids to play with - even better.
It was a good day. It was nice to spend time with the little guy and just do fun things, like we have no care in the world on a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
I hope you had a good day too.
