Getting Ready

Easter is 6 days away. Roy's family and Melissa and kids come down to our house for the day. We've been hosting this holiday for the last 8 years. I can't believe it's been that long and I can't believe I am never more prepared - maybe I'm just too hard on myself. Or maybe it's because I think we need to accomplish 15 things on the to-do list that really don't have to get done right now. I have a tendency to over do the project list.

The yard is looking pretty good. It's because we haven't had rain. That and the round-up in the orchard have kept the weeds under control. I push-mowed around the greenhouse and in the orchard over the weekend.

Sy is going to miss his ballgame on Friday in order to go with G&G Friday morning and stay through Sunday morning. While with them, they are going to see Disney on Ice.  Aren't you excited for him? I know I am. And I'm excited for me, because I will be able to go through this house and actually have items I put away stay there until his return on Sunday - and that's as long as I need.

We haven't done the grocery shopping yet - and a certain little boy has decided he wants the pre-packaged basket from HEB. The one with the fighter plane in it. Not too worry, I have put in the request with the Easter Bunny. I hope he gets it or that they have more than one just like that.

These things actually weigh on me until I can cross them off the list.

Tonight, I was able to get to Walmart and get stuff for Jon's new apartment. Things like a trash can, towels, soap, shampoo, ya know the boring but essential items. I hope he keeps the apartment long enough to need a replenishment. And I hope when the time comes to replenish, he has is own money to do it with. But that's another story for another time.

While there, I also got the items needed for the field trip on Wednesday. SeaWorld. Being ever so practical, I am supplying sunscreen. SPF 80 for Kids. I got the face sticks too. They do a bang up job on the cheeks, nose, and ears where it's hard to use the spray on kind.

I also got them water for the ride home. After a day at the park, I know we are really thirsty. We have a refillable SeaWorld cup that we fill up prior to leaving and enjoy all the way home. But not all the kids have passes so with that, they don't have the refillable cup - and - even if they did, the cup is big and bulky and not something 4 & 5 years olds are going to carry around all day.  So bottles of water it is. Roy is going to help me deliver them in the morning.

On Thursday, they are having an Easter party. We were asked to supply eggs for the kids to find. I filled our 12 with bugs not candy. They are really cool and won't give the kids cavities.

Sounds like Sunday is going to be a nice day. We are going to set up the swimming pool and have the batteries for the fire truck and quad charged and ready to ride. The oak trees are providing lots of shade, the coastal breeze is here for the summer, and Aunty Sandra is bringing about 150 eggs filled with candy. I'm not sure it can get better than that.
