For Sy's birthday, he wanted to go bowling. Just like we have done for the past two years. I called to make a reservation but all the birthday party slots were reserved. We told him we would take him after Christmas. Not ideal, but at least we would get there, right?
After Christmas, we all needed some time to recuperate. At some point late last week, I called the bowling lanes and they said they were opening at 3 pm on Sunday - New Year's Day. I asked if I could reserve a lane and I couldn't. So I figured I would take my chances. I sent a quick e-mail to Liz, Melissa, Lori and Sandra letting them know we would be there if they wanted to join us. I was so glad they didn't mind a last minute invite. I wanted to invite others but I felt bad that 1) it wasn't a proper party because it was a holiday and 2) getting an invite on Thursday afternoon for Sunday isn't really considerate either.
We had a good crowd. Melissa's sister was in town visiting. I haven't seen her in years so it was good to see her, unfortunately there wasn't a ton of time to visit - it was only 2 hours and we were herding children - but she looks great and her kids sure are cute.
The kids bowled a game and a little bit. We had pizza and soda and I made brownies as requested by the belated birthday boy.
