Gotta Mow

Sy is mowing. It's official. He doesn't stay in a straight line, he gets stuck, and he sings - but he is mowing. Life is good. My mowing days are numbered.

We mow just under 5 acres. We have a riding mower and the push mower. It takes hours to get the entire property mowed and I'm not sure we have ever had it all done at the same time - ever.

Last Saturday, I started out with the push mower hoping to tackle the orchard. By the time Sy and I were done - 5 hours later - we had the orchard, around the chicken pen, the field behind the fish room and around the fish room all mowed. Most of it we bagged which adds a whole level of time and exertion to the project.

Needless to say, the place is looking good and we were dog tired.

Sy did a great job. He knew when he got stuck to take his hands off the handle and the mower would stop so Mama could get it. He started out signing Christmas carols, moved to nursery rhymes, and finished the day with   AC/DC and Judas Priest. I couldn't have agreed more with that ending.

He said he had fun and wanted to do it again. We need to get back out there this weekend and tackle around and in front of the house. I hope he's up for it.

Hopefully he will find it as fun as I do when he finally takes over while I sip margaritas in the shade.
