Those of you who are into reality shows know that the Bachelor dude picked the sweet girl he wants to marry last week. So, I think he was Brad and the two girls were Chantal and Emily? If I got the names wrong, please excuse me, I don't watch the show. I don't believe you can meet the person of your dreams in a bar, at work, or on reality TV.
Anyway, Roy got stuck on it one night early on when there were still a lot of girls in the game. He liked the one that is going to be the next Bachelorette.
Flash forward to the final rose show... Roy is cooking dinner. I am trying to get Sy out of the kitchen so I distract him with cartoons. He picks up the remote and switches channels and lands on The Bachelor. It was right when Chantal was coming down the stairs and talking about how much she loved this guy and was so excited to marry him, yada, yada, yada. Sy gets real quiet so I start watching him, watch her. He was just fixated.
Then comes the part where Brad disses her and tells her she's not the one. She starts crying. Oh, the drama. I can see Sy is really into this, so I ask him if he knows what's happening. He said, he made her cry." So we started talking about why he made her cry and how it's hard to pick a mate and even harder to do it on TV. Sy was so cute. He turned to me and said, "I would marry her."
That started a conversation about how she was very pretty and seemed really nice but in order to marry someone you really have to like them and like doing things with them. And that ultimately you want them to be pretty on the inside and on the outside.
The next morning, we saw a photo of a monitor lizard. Sy remembered we watched a show on monitor lizards.
Sy - "On that show, there were two boy lizards who were fighting over the girl lizard, remember?"
Me - "Yes, I remember."
Sy - "Well, she must have been really pretty on the inside because she wasn't pretty on the outside."
Ah, yes, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
