First Day of 1st Grade

We survived! It's only the first day but after some of the meltdowns that have taken place over the last few weeks in anticipation of today - it's good that we survived.

Since Sy didn't go to meet the teacher, I turned on his classroom light (while the other kids sat in the hall watching cartoons) and provided time for a "look see". We found his seat and his cubby. He hung up his back pack and then took the tour.

It's a really great classroom. Wonderful if you are in 1st grade. We got lucky on this. There is a reading space, activity mat and a lot of items to provide creative thought and stimulation. I want to go there too.

The teacher has a candy jar on her desk, too. How awesome is that. Sy told me tonight you get a candy for good behavior.

Tonight at bed time he had me pretend to be him and tell him about his day. So I guessed they colored and counted and spelled their name. I was right on all accounts. I also guessed he played with Justin on the playground. He did see Justin but he didn't play with him on the playground. Darn, I got that wrong.

So here are some photos of his classroom with Daddy, Nana and Tata.
