Going the Distance

I noticed when I took a picture of my dash for the blue jelly fish post that my odometer was just shy of 190,000 miles. When I bought the car (I currently drive) at one year old, it had 23,000 miles on it. So that means, in the 6 1/2 years I have owned the car, we have driven 167,000 miles (average 25,600 per year). No wonder I always feel like I'm in the car. And no wonder they say everything is bigger in Texas.

I know that M and I have hypothesized as to why it's so hard for us to get the kids together on week nights or even weekends. It seems like it should be easy to do but we only do it a few times a year because it turns into a whole day affair with the travel/visit time.

So I decided to figure out some mileage. The number below are based on round trip - because at some point I need to come home.
  • Current Job - My drive way to the office parking lot - 56 miles
  • Job #1 (when car was new to me) - 76 miles
  • Job #2 (after job #1 and current job) - 72 miles
  • My drive way to M's lake house - 76 miles
  • My drive way to M's city house - 86 miles
  • The funny thing with the mileage difference from the lake house to the city house is that M improved her personal driving by eliminating 52 miles each day but now lives further away from me
  • G&G Sheetz house - 100 miles
  • HEB Plus on Potranco (the grocery store we go to) - 48 miles
Wow.
