In the year that it was in our house, I'm pretty sure we burned at least 10 loaves of bread. Roy had a hard time remembering to flip from toast to oven to broil. And we were convinced that it was going to cause a fire because we would forget something and poof!
Since we used this toaster oven 4-5 times a week, we decided to get a new one. Roy wanted the high end Cuisinart model. Since we have their coffee maker, blender, and coffee grinder, it seemed like a good move. We went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond because they had it in stock, to be able to check it out. (That tells you our age, we couldn't just buy it off the web.)
I'm glad we went to see it because I didn't like it. It didn't feel like it was made well, even with good reviews. So we left it there and decided to look around.
As luck would have it, we had to stop at Sear's after the BB&B run. They had an Kenmore Elite convection toaster oven on clearance. The price was right and it looked like it would match our quasi kitchen so we brought it home.
It's been here for about 8 weeks. We have used it for toast, bake, and broil. My review is - this thing is GREAT! My oven has not been baking evenly for about a year and Roy can't figure out why. This fixed that. I have baked cookies and cakes and they have turned out perfect. You have to do small batches but because it's convection they cook just a few minutes faster than in a conventional oven. I'm okay with the small size. I like that everything is coming out perfect. It makes me look like I know how to cook.
