Tuesday night Sy went swimming with Nana and Sarah at the city pool a few blocks from the Nana house. I went to the mall to kill some time. I was dressed for work and didn't want to sit out in the 100 degree weather sweating while they swam. I called Roy and let him know what we were up to. He had a meeting so it was all good.
I went back to fetch Sy at 7 when the pool closed and Roy sent a text to see if we could go out for dinner.
I said sure and we decided to meet at La Esquinita (the little corner). It's a great little restaurant which seems to sit in the middle of nowhere. Clean, neat, good service and best of all good food.
After dinner we headed out the door. As we walked out, Roy heard a meow. "It's little," he said, "where is it." So we walked down the sidewalk and heard it again. We saw a little tortoise shell kitten hiding in the landscaping which was a mixture of bushes and cactus.
I had a skirt on so I was no help except for directing where the kitten moved to so Roy could try to get him. Finally after about 5 minutes Roy caught him and within a minute he was headed to the car.
SUCKER!
So the kitten is here and I guess this is officially home now because I don't think Sy or Roy are going to give it up.
Tonight, this is part of the conversation while the kitten is sitting on the couch with Sy and Roy...
Roy, "Cute doesn't phase me."
Me, "Yeah right."
Roy to Sy, "If it weren't for you and mama this cat would still be in the bushes."
Me, "If it weren't for us, you would still be there trying to find him."
Roy started laughing because he knew it was true.
No name yet. Sy is calling it Buster, Roy is calling it Turtle, and I am calling it Shark Bait. A name will fit eventually. I can tell you the meower is really LOUD, it likes canned cat food, and it doesn't like Frito.
Baby Kitty, Sushi and Reilly - there's a new kid in town and he/she is really playful.
