Packaging Issues

Have you ever noticed that packaging looks similar in the various aisles of the grocery store? I guess the manufacturers have designed multi-use packages to save on production costs? Not sure, but in the past month, I have learned you need to be careful and look at what you are opening, especially if you are reaching for the package in the dark.

Here is what I'm talking about.

While I don't store these two packages in the same location - the cough drops go in the medicine drawer and the cat treats go in the pantry - they both happened to be on my nightstand this week. I had the cough drops there because my allergies have blessed me with a very sore throat and having a cough drop in the middle of the night helps with sooth my throat. Sy brought the cat treats to our room to give some to the cat. I didn't realize he had done this and I didn't realize he put them on MY nightstand. I was able to figure it out before I put a cat treat in my mouth. The good thing with cough drops is that they are hard and in a wrapper. Roy was sitting there talking to me while I was opening the package and started laughing when I said, "These are cat treats!?!?!" And then I started laughing. Because....

I did goof up these....
Yes, I admit it, I inadvertently used the KY as lotion. I realized it when, after rubbing what I thought was lotion onto my hands and arms for about 5 minutes it didn't soak in and was sticky. I got up and turned on the light to see what I had done.

Roy asked me what I was doing when he heard me running the water in the bathroom. Needless to say, he gave me a hard time and it's one I won't live down for a while. And it made the cat treat goof up even funnier.

The old packaging for sunscreen and Nair hair removal were very similar too. I never did goof those up. You don't normally use either of those in the dark... at least I never did.

I think I've learned my lesson. I will start opening packages with a light on.
