Being sick for Monster Truck Jam

We went again this year. I tried to get out of it and offered my ticket to Jim. But Jim decided he needed to go hunting for that deer he didn't get.

Sy ran a fever and laid on the couch all day Saturday and then through the night his fever spiked and he started throwing up. He didn't complain about anything hurting him and tylenol did bring the fever down but didn't make it go away. So at 6 am Sunday morning, I am trying to figure out if we are even going to the Jam. At 7 am, I decided we should go to the pediatrician and make sure he didn't have some sort of infection. So I got him dressed and off we went. I was still in route at 8 am so I called and they said they could see us when we arrived. (I really like that the ped is open on weekend mornings.) We got there and Sy's pediatrician was on duty. I was a little worried it was going to the be the flu and I was going to get a song and dance about not having him vaccinated. (Dr. B likes every child to be thoroughly vaccinated and I don't. He's our ped because even though we disagree on this point, he is one of the best in Texas. And he is hysterical.) Anyway, he figures it's strep so they take a swab and run it. Nope. It's nothing. Take him home and use tylenol for the fever.

I call Roy. It's nothing, we are on our way home. But as soon as we get there, we need to leave again because we need to get T from Melissa so he can go with us AND Roy needs to drop fish off to a client.

It takes Roy what seems like forever to catch those crazy fish. He gets us to the McD's Melissa is going to meet us at and drops Sy and I off.  We walk in and guess what!?!?!!?  They do NOT have a play area. What?!?!!? Melissa and kids show up shortly after we got there. We feed them. They get bored and start running around and driving each other crazy. I am calling Roy - get back here before we go insane and give these children away. :-)

We got a great parking spot in the Tower garage. I bought the boys a Monster Truck at Walmart so they would have one for the show. The tickets were on the opposite side of the dome from where we walked in so that was hike but the seats were good. Sy wants to seat in the nosebleed next time. Uh, no.

They changed the track around from last year and there were more trucks. The track was slower and with more trucks the first part where they race in a circle in a process of elimination was boring and LONG. Both boys wanted to know when we were going home.

Sy wound up falling asleep on Roy and after about 10 trucks completing the freestyle, we decided to leave. Sy needed a piggy back because he was so tired. I volunteered for that one, I needed the exercise and I knew Roy's feet and knees were not up to the challenge.

It turned out to be a good day, even with Sy being sick and the inconvenience of no playground to distract them while Roy delivered fish. The boys did say they had fun and were happy we took them.
