Documenting our life in random posts. We are renovating a 1945 ranch house on five acres in South Texas brush country. Along the way we have grown our family by adding our rockin' awesome son and a crazy mix of animals. It's never boring. Come along on the journey.

Roadblock
A corgi body, lab face, chow mane, retriever tail. You are a breeding mess. But you are an awesome dog.
You were blocking the road on New Year's Eve. The daddy was on the way home from his friend's house and you sat in the middle of the road. He thought you were a stuffed animal you were so fluffy and small. He beeped the horn and you didn't move so he put the truck in park and got out and picked you up. He decided to bring you home.
The next morning he called me at home and told me he brought home a puppy and you were really cute. He wanted me to come meet you. And I have to say, you were really cute. A little puff ball and you did NOT like being in the house. You cried whenever you were in and sat at the door. After a few days of trying to get you to like being in the house, we let you be outside. You were so happy and content being out there.
We built you a large (bigger than the house) pen with a nice dog house. You seemed very happy there. We would let you out to run with us when we were outside working but other than that, we kept you in the pen. We were worried you would run into the road or over to another property and get shot.
After a few years, you learned how to climb out of the pen. You still didn't want to be in the house and we didn't want to chain you up. You ran off a few times and one of those times you were gone for days. We were sure you had been shot. But you finally returned home and you have never run off again.
Today the pen is long gone and you have the run of the property. You do a great job of keeping strays and strangers away.
The vet says you are good looking dog and the propane guy calls you Speedbump.
You like to be brushed and enjoy Sy handing out treats.
Thanks for putting up with us crazy humans. We are glad you're here.
