What a weekend

It really started on Thursday, when Roy decided that he had to change out our sink that day because Jim was going hunting all weekend and if he needed help, he was going to need to get him that day. Needless to day, it didn't matter when Jim was going to be around on Thursday because this sink didn't make it's first attempt at being set in it's position last night (Saturday) and it didn't fit.
Yep, that's right, it didn't fit. See the countertop was retro fitted for our space. The house it came from didn't have a window, window sill or anything like that in the way of the faucet. We have all of those things and most importantly, the window sill is deep. Really deep so we can put the soap up there and two vases that Roy took from his Grandmother's collection that absolutely have to be on the window sill. (I don't know why, it's a Roy thing and since my kitchen isn't done, I ignore them until the dust is so thick, I cannot. Then I clean them and put them back.)
Well, this fancy sink has 4 holes, so we bought a sink that has a handle, faucet, sprayer, soap dispenser - 4 holes. The faucets for these sinks are very stylin' and they have a tall back that connects at a 90 degree angle. What this means is that you need to have at least 8" of vertical clearance for the faucet along the back of the sink. We didn't have that. It wasn't determined that was our issue until Roy took the pieces out of all 4 holes and we placed it into position. We needed an extra 1/4" we just didn't have.
So what to do?  Well, buy new countertop of course. Now that fits right into my "real" budget and "real" timeframe, not that crazy "if everything goes well" budget and timeframe my darling, very hard working, husband gave me a month ago when we first discussed this project.
We went to Lowe's this morning (Sunday - remember this started on Thursday) and selected the Milano Amber, in stock, and ready for us to buy. Yahoo. We got it home, and Roy and Jim are still installing it. For the record, it's 9:58 p.m. and they started at 3:10 p.m. Part of the coutnertop is in and the sink is in. The other part of the countertop is ready to install??  I don't know if they have determined whether or not that's happening tonight or not and I'm not asking.
Anyway, once the project is done, I will post the "before" and "after" photos.
