Oh, That Song

Today, on our way home from Sea World, we listened to "Breaking the Law" four times. We listen to it coming and going to and from Nana's house. We listen to it when we first get up, before bed and several times during the day.

It's Sy's favorite song. I'm not sure what it is about the song that he loves, but he can listen to it over and over again.

When I was his age, I had a song I loved. Delta Dawn. I knew it by heart and I sang it at the top of my lungs. Unfortunately, the MP3 player and iPod had not yet been invented. We had it on 8-track tape. (Did I just give my age away?) Just like Sy, I have no idea what it was about that song but I could not get enough.

The next best was when Meatloaf Bat Out of Hell came out. It was 1977. It was summer time and Aunt Fay would play that record on her record player that looked like a piece of furniture. Like below. Not exact but you get my drift.

She would open the living room windows and we would sit on the swing on the front porch and listen to it over and over again.

I'm not sure when Sy will find another song that takes the place of Breaking the Law but I hope he always remembers loving this song. May it bring back happy memories hanging with his mom and dad.
